Have you seen a job that you are enthusiastic about? Great! Then you will of course apply. At Concreeto we are happy to help you with that. With these 10 tips you make a strong first impression and you can start a new job in no time. Ready? Here we go!

TIP 1: SEND OUT A CLEAR CV

Thanks to a clear CV, your future employer will immediately see what experience and diplomas you have. Put your most relevant work experience at the top. Extra tip: Fill in your details in an online CV tool. You can then download a CV that looks good right away. You will also stand out by adding a photo and a short intro about yourself.

TIP 2: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT MOTIVATION

Use your letter of application to tell why you would like to work for this company. With the answer “Making money” you will not convince an employer. Go the extra mile, be sincere and name the specific company or position. Spelling errors don’t look impressive, so be sure to get your text checked for mistakes before you send it. Or send your motivation as a video, if this suits the company.

TIP 3: USE YOUR CONNECTION(S)

Do you know someone at the company? Mention this in your application. Common connections often give you the edge over the competition. As a Concreeto collegue you can of course name us as a connection.

TIP 4: ASK PREVIOUS WORKING RELATIONSHIPS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS

What others say about you can immediately convince your future employer to invite you! If you have made a good impression on your previous employer(s) and colleagues, you can ask them for a quote or letter of reference. You can send these in with your application.

TIP 5: THINK ABOUT HOW YOUR APPLICATION WILL ARRIVE

Do you respond in a contact form on the company’s website, do you send your letter by carrier pigeon or do you use the digital highway? Either way, here’s an opportunity to gain another positive edge over other candidates. Make sure you use a representative e-mail address or, even better, deliver your letter in person. By showing your face you will definitely be remembered.

TIP 6: READ ABOUT THE COMPANY

YES! You have been invited for an interview. Prepare well by (re)reading information about the company and the job. You can use this information in your conversation. This shows that you have carefully read and are aware of everything that is important.

TIP 7: KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY AND ASK

Certain questions are almost always asked in job interviews. For example: list your strengths, weaknesses and what you want to learn at the company. That way you’re not left speechless. Also, ask some questions yourself! This shows that you’re interested and indicates that you are eager to learn. After all, nobody knows everything.

TIP 8: DON’T. BE. LATE.

This is a must. By arriving on time you show that you are reliable. A deal is a deal. Few things are more important to an employer than this!

TIP 9: DRESS THE PART

Wear clothes that suit the company and the job you’re applying for. Of course these should also be clothes that you like to wear. Although the outfits worn on the construction site aren’t the most suitable for an interview. We recommend something a little more formal. Unsure about the dress code? Ask us for help. We are happy to help you with this. The most important thing is that you look presentable.

TIP 10: PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY LANGUAGE

You can (unconsciously) communicate a lot by how you sit or stand. Leaning your elbows on the table or sitting in a slump does not show that you are a positive go-getter. So sit up straight and look the interviewers in the eye. Finally: don’t forget to smile!

We are confident that you will land the job! Do you have any questions? Please let us know. We are happy to look for your dream job together with you.
