What does a shopping mall cleaner do?

As a shopping mall cleaner, you make sure that visitors can shop in a fresh and clean environment. From the entrances to the toilets, and from the escalators to the parking area – you clean it all and keep everything neat and tidy.

You’re responsible for cleaning:

• Floors, stairs, and escalators
• Toilets and sanitary facilities
• Windows and doors
• General waste and litter

You work according to a set schedule, but no two days are the same. Sometimes unexpected situations pop up – like a spill in the hallway or an accident in the restroom. That’s when you jump into action right away.

Cleaning duties in shopping centres

The work is physical, but also social. You may have contact with visitors or store staff, so being friendly and helpful is a big plus. You usually work independently, but you're part of a team that ensures the shopping centre looks its best.

Your tasks include:

• Keeping public areas clean
• Reporting irregularities (like broken lights or loose tiles)
• Using cleaning products and machines, such as scrubber dryers
