A valid VCA certificate or willingness to get one is stated as a requirement in almost all our vacancies. For many jobs in construction, the industrial sector, technology, cleaning or transportation, a VCA is mandatory. But what even is a VCA? How do you get your certificate? What does having one mean? We have gathered the most important information below.

WHAT IS A VCA?

VCA is a Dutch abbreviation for Safety, health and environment Checklist Contractors (Veiligheid, gezondheid en milieu Checklist Aannemers). A VCA certificate is a diploma that you receive after a course and exam. You learn to work safely and according to health regulations. This can give you the edge when applying for jobs! A VCA is mandatory for everyone who works in a high-risk environment, such as (industrial) cleaning, technology, construction or transportation. In other words: in all branches where we find jobs for real go-getters. Thanks to the course you will have basic knowledge about all important laws, protocols and safety regulations.

WHY IS A VCA CERTIFICATE IMPORTANT?

With a valid VCA you can avoid dangerous situations in the workplace. Accidents can happen any time! Paying attention and working carefully are essential, whether you start working as a driver, ground worker or in cleaning. As a cleaner, you may come into contact with (fire) hazardous or toxic substances. Many of Concreeto’s vacancies involve physical work. With a valid VCA certificate, your employer and colleagues can assume that you work in a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly way. This makes you a great candidate!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN B-VCA AND VOL-VCA?

In short: VOL-VCA (also known as VCA Vol) is for managers and B-VCA (VCA Basic) is for executive employees. Both know how best to act in risky or dangerous situations, but managers have more responsibility. That is why VOL-VCA pays extra attention to ensuring a safe working environment for the entire team. You must be able to direct and encourage others to work safely. Vacancies often specifically state which certificate you need.

HOW CAN YOU GET YOUR VCA CERTIFICATE?

You can get a VCA certificate in 1 day! If you’re not in a hurry, but would like to get your VCA, the course often takes place over two or three days. You register for a course and take an exam at the end. Courses are given on location or online. The B-VCA exam consists of 40 multiple choice questions, for which you have 1 hour. For your VOL-VCA you have to answer 70 multiple choice questions in 75 minutes. We are happy to help you find a course (location) and apply for a VCA!
