At Concreeto, it's not just about the work,  it's about the people behind it. That's why we're putting one of our stars in the spotlight, so you can get a better sense of who works through Concreeto and what drives them. This time, it's Peter Pataki, who works as a cable puller at Dijka Kabel BV.

    Joining Concreeto through a friend

Peter found his way to Concreeto through a friend of his, who had shared it on a website.

What does a cable puller do?

As a cable puller, Peter lays and pulls cables underground and through ducts, including power, fibre-optic and data cables. He's currently working at Dijka Kabel BV.

    Tidy work, great crew

"I really enjoy it!" says Peter. He works on clean, well-kept sites where safety is taken seriously. His colleagues are great people too, and there's a really good working culture.

    No hassle, just sorted

Peter would definitely recommend Concreeto to others. He's been working through them for quite a while now. Everything runs smoothly, and on the rare occasion there was a problem, it was sorted straight away.

Where does a cable puller work?

Has Peter's story got you curious? Then it's worth knowing that there's a whole world hidden beneath our feet. A cable puller works in all sorts of places: in residential areas where fibre is being installed, on industrial estates and on projects to expand the power grid. You usually work outdoors as part of a regular crew. One day it's a residential street, the next week a business park.

    Becoming a cable puller

Not sure whether you've got enough experience? You don't need years of training to start as a cable puller. A VCA certificate is useful, though, so you can work safely. It also helps if you're physically fit, enjoy working outdoors and are a good team player. You'll learn most of the trade on the job, from experienced colleagues. Motivation is your most important tool.

Plenty of work for cable pullers

Noticed roadworks popping up all over the Netherlands? That's no coincidence. More and more homes and businesses are getting fibre, and the power grid is being significantly expanded to support solar panels, EV charging points and heat pumps. All those cables have to go into the ground somewhere. As a result, good cable pullers are in high demand, now and for years to come.

Find your dream job through Concreeto too

Peter's story shows how Concreeto can help you find your place as a cable puller: working where safety comes first, with an agency that acts quickly whenever something comes up.
